Ged comes to town

On the weekend an old friend came down from Geneva to catch up with us and another friend. We spent a lot of the weekend together and spent a lot of that eating and drinking. I'll leave the food details to a planned best of Paris entry but some highlights were Pierre Herme's stunning patisserie and a Jewish bakery in La Marais. Another interesting dicovery was that even when you are reduced to buying cheese from a supermarket (because like most shops fromageries are closed on Sundays) you still end up with cheese so good that you wonder how the Australian version is allowed to use the same name.
Between meals we visited the Saint Denis canals north of Paris (familiar to those who have seen the movie Amelie), Place des Vosges (a very nice courtyard park similar to Palais Royal) and the European Centre for Photography.
